Thanksgiving!

Finally Thanksgiving is here!
I love this day, so happy and fun.
I am cooking some of the dishes this year and I'm soooo excited.
This year I've gotten into cooking a little more, so this is a big step up for me, to help cook on Thanksgiving.
Usually I'm no where near the kitchen on Thanksgiving. It's so crazy on this day :o
But since my family is at home this year I get to make a pumpkin pie and a lovely batch of brownies and who knows what else!!!

So I made my pumpkin pie and it looks delicious.

Then the brownies!
My speciality ;)

In between the pie and brownies we watched the parade.
Then for some reason we watched It's Complicated... not very Thanksgivingee! lol
But we had fun and that's all that matters to me!

Oh I love this dish.
My mom put sausage in a crockpot and then put cranberry jelly on top,
for a snack till the turkey is done.
mmmmmmmm

This gravy is amazing!
What's in it you ask...it's a secret ;)

Ok..here's some more pics of Thanksgiving at my house..

:9

And the big finale!

Oh and this is the family pic of Thanksgiving.

I adored this Thanksgiving!
Can't believe that it's almost over :(
But it's ok...if Thanksgiving is over then that just means it's that much closer to Christmas!!!
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

Meet My Family

Hi everyone!

I just noticed that I haven't said anything about my family :o
So I decided to tell you a little about my wonderful and yet sometimes annoying family.
No seriously I love them all ;)

<3

Ok here I go

MOM AND DAD

This is my mom and my dad.
I took that pic before they went out for New Year's Eve!
They both use to work in the prison system but they finally got jobs that make them a little less paranoid. Although my mom still watches 'Law and Order' from time to time and my dad can still give that look of
(I use to be a warden so BACK UP.)
I do think if they hadn't of worked there Sarah and I wouldn't be the young ladies we are today.
My dad is in the oil business and my mom home schools me and recently is a secretary.
I have to say that they are the best parents I've ever had. lol
So that's my mom and pappa!
SARAH

My sister is 19 years old and has already graduated about a year ago.
Sarah is going to college now to become a photographer. Which I think is perfect for her.
She definitely has the eye for it ;)
Sarah also plays the piano and guitar.
She has a major knack for writing songs and I've got into it a little myself!
We often play together and help each other with ideas and new things we've learned.
We will be going back and forth with things like...
how do you play this chord, what's that scale, show me your new song, oh, you should say this, that's not how you play that chord...etc...
As you can tell we are very close!

;) ;)
In some ways we are exactly alike and in other ways we are COMPLETELY different.
Sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes a little annoying, I got to say.
SO that's my sis!

I guess you know a little about me from the about me thing to the side of this post..
but I'll say something anyways.
I love my family and I love my animals too.
I've gotten into painting and writing songs and music lately.
I hate school but I'm getting better at it.
And last but not least my guitar. Guitar has been my passion for a while now.
When I pick up my guitar and start playing, it's like I'm in another world!
So that's everyone except for my animals, but don't worry I'll get them up soon!
Well, hoped you guys liked meeting my family.

Cartoon Mania!

TOM AND JERRY!

I think this cartoon is so cute!
I remember drinking chocolate milk in front of the tv watching them just mess with each other
when I was younger.
Well...not me, my sister.  Since I'm allergic to milk that wouldn't have worked out so good! :O
Enjoying them chase each other might sound mean, but it's actually really funny ;) lol
I still have a good time watching it.
You almost feel sorry for Tom.  He just never can catch Jerry :(
Interesting buddies aren't they?
This cartoon reminds me of a simpler time in my life...good times.

BUGS BUNNY

aaaahhhh whats up doc ;)
My sister's favorite cartoon ever!

                                    JOHNNY BRAVO

A friend of mine told me to look this cartoon up and
OMG he was right it is pretty cool!
But I do have one thought about it
PLAYAH!
lol
He's fun, he's funny, he's a little stupid, but in a cute way ;)
Definitely one of a kind.
(Johnny Bravo not my friend...just clarifying)

ROBIN HOOD MAKES GOOD

Whhhooossseee going to play Robin Hood.
For all those "little siblings" out there!
It's an old cartoon but it's still a great classic.

TWEETY BIRD

I taut I taw a puddy tat....
..I did, I did see a puddy tat :o
Too cute!

              SPONGE BOB

And of course Sponge Bob is the baws!
He's so funny and crazy and this show will make time fly :)

These are just a few of the cartoons that I dig!
Cartoons that will get you rolling on the floor.

School

This past summer I have learned an interesting lesson.
I use to think if you get a break from school ... always take it.
But now...no matter how much fun you think your going to have, nothing is as satisfying as finishing a day of school and being able to do whatever you want to do after that.  Even if you don't like what you are learning, you can always put some humor in it.
I cannot tell you how many times my mom and I have been cracking up doing my history homework.  With all those long words and how funny they sound when you try to pronounce them...lol
You see.. you can always find the humor in anything.
I know most kids don't like school, but I bet all those kids would change there minds if they couldn't do their school.
If they couldn't read or spell or add or subtract or anything else.
Can you imagine?
It's a hard thing to overcome.  It's not impossible,
but it is a long process.
I know school is hard and kind of boring, but just remember you have a natural ability to process what you learn and some people have to learn to process what they learn.
You may not understand, but just trust me, you have something
I thought I would never have.
I have dyslexia.
It's a learning disability and I have taken a road that is teaching me how to learn.
It's funny that I look at other people reading a book with no problem and I use to wonder how that feels.
I know someone that is reading this might think,
"How can she not know how that feels?"
But it's ok, I just had to learn what you already have.
I am still working on it, but I have what I need now
...and you know what...its the BEST!!!
So, go to school and TRY to keep reminding yourself that it's going to be OK :)

Vintage!

I love this way of decorating!
Take some frames and put mirrors in them or some cute pics with thin mats, thick mats or
just plain old frames and you have a wonderful focal point!

This was taken in the rain.
We just zoomed in to a old light in down town Nashville.
That was amazing!

I've always wanted one of those fans!
This is vintage all over.

 Recognize this kitchen?
Just my favorite tv show ever!
Friends,
love it!!!!!

Flowers in glass bottles are beautiful for any place.
You can even use old jelly jars!

I think this is the coolest thing ever!!!
You can use it as a bookshelf and a plant holder.
btw
I love orchids! There gorgeous!

Bubble gum is not exactly vintage but don't you think this pic is so cool!!! lol
But if you are looking for some sweet vintage clothes, look at,
Anthropology, Urban Outfitters, Free People, Charlotte Russe, these places are great!
Just remember... the more unique the better ;)

Well there you go.
 That's all I got.

A Movie Worth Your Time: The Help

Just saw "The Help" a couple days ago...incredible!
I've never seen a movie about slavery that was funny and serious at the same time!
The way those maids had to go to work everyday and do whatever their boss told them to do and they couldn't defend themselves or explain.  They just had to stand there and take the demeaning way the white people, at the time, looked at them.
They had to accept their life the way it was and no one could or would change it.
It's not like they liked their lives, but at the same time they didn't know how to make it different or
what to do after it was different.
Because of the color of their skin, they were treated like animals.
If someone felt different, "they" were the wrong ones.
Like, if you thought someone was more important then most people thought or
if you felt more important then most people thought you were, it was unheard of.
Whether you were standing up for yourself or if you were standing up for someone else,
 there was no right answer.

To think that there are still people that think this way today,
it's just not right.  No one should be treated like that.
If you haven't seen this movie you need to.
It will really make you think!

The main actress "Emma Stone" was excellent in this movie.
She brings a cool new flair to the screen!

I love Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer playing the maids!

True pros!!

Go and see "The Help!"
And remember..."You is kind, you is smart, you is important!!"

My Music

Turn on the radio, get on your ipod, flip out some old records, because it's time to jam!

Some songs make you smile like,
"Something That I Want" by Grace Potter
or pretty much any song that is about chick-fil-a.
While other songs can actually make you cry like,
"Whiskey Lullaby" by Alison Krauss.

And there is another kind of song that is just amazing,
like the song "Misery" by Maroon 5, it's jumpy and will always get your fingers snappin'...
...but...the song is called MISERY....
It's not the happiest song in the world ;)
It's interesting how the lyrics can be so different from the sound.
LOL

Some of my worst times in my life, music was definitely my best friend.
I love how music can help!
But I have found that Jesus can help even better than that...

My absolutely favorite band is Tenth Avenue North.
Their music is so upbeat and drenched with God's grace.
Even in the roughest times of my life when I listen to bands like
Tenth Avenue North, I realized how good life can be.
Just let it go!

Thanks Tenth Avenue North!
btw
They have another cd out called "The Light Meets the Dark!"
Check it out!!!

Rock the Hat!

Some people might say that hats are out, no one wears them any more.
If a new fashion statement is what your looking for, a little shabby chic vintage look,
always throw in a splash of your own style.
Add a cool new funky hat to your wardrobe and you're good to go!
There's a fashion statement for ya!

This girl is wearing it all!

Rosie cheeks plus this hat equals adorable!

The tomboy look, put on some color with that cap........
..... pulling it off ;)

You can't go wrong with pink!

And guys........

One feather on a brown hat and you get this.

Rockin it Bruno Mars style!

Classic winter look, amazing warmth and that hint of green makes the outfit!!

A plain beret and a striped scarf, Christina Aguilera......she's got it ;)

Now this girl....what can I say....that's the ultimate statement!

That's for all you fashion lovers ;) ;)
